❤️ Part i've always loved, laser disc had advantage over VHS with movie theatre Surround sound coding built into discs with more extra options and specialty features than dvd.
Depends on player you buy, such as one I got for father one Christmas in 2018 new from Japan. has new feature to play dvd and karaoke in last revision of laser disc player modules.
New specialty editions of laserdisc players that include playback as new feature. DVD was not relevant back in the day when laserdisc was around. So this is new adaption to laser disc players near 2000s.

Laser disc is first optical disc format invention before dvd was even thought of as conception.
It more cheap to buy movie theater laser disc collectables sense scene slowly dying out. Japan only country left in 2000 making new films for format anymore.

You need subtitle generator box for laser disc, some television do not produce laser disc subtitles on screen for imports. (Some call them: Transducer subtitle boxs) specialty laser disc sub generators for laser disc players.
